Instant Merry Christmas...! (card)

So it's that time of year again,  I'm always late with sending cards!
Well instead of writing out endless cards I decided I'd spend the time drawing one instead.
This gives you the choice to just view it or if you like you can print out the card version and hang it adoringly with your other cards! :-)

So have a very Merry Christmas from me and a wonderful New Year!

Getting a head

More older sketches...

These are from a long time ago but I kept them for some reason...
all are pencil on paper (some with ink)

Some older mind spills...

This was actually one painting that I cut in half... kinda bio-twins

Whoooa...!

So much time past, I think it's time to post some more inspiration up soon and get on with some more painting, having a bit of a canvas block lately.
When you write it, it makes it conscious.

Working out..

So I start with and idea hovering in my head.
A little research, a hash with PS and a VERY rough reference (haha!)
as a guide but the rest is in my head...

paint in the rough outline just to make the position right,
I never draw it in unless it's a portrait, always paint it.....

...and keep painting till I destroy it or make it work
it'll be finished eventually

Not sure what I think of this one... something I really don't like about it

Dead-still Life

Acrylic on canvas 50x40 (un-finished)
This is quite an eerie painting... it originally started as a self portrait but I threw away my heavily PS'd reference photo (below) at some point and just let it grow.

Core

(Acrylic on Canvas 50x40cms)
This is one of my favourites to date, I enjoyed painting. I guess as you can tell it's during a 'dark' phase! I love to paint in monotone colour, it's quite a challenge to get the shade and light just right. The crow was taken from a photo but the background blacked out, I think the Crows look of curiosity is more than enough for this painting it needed no more details in the background.

Manga

Acrylic on flat canvas
I always tried to paint quite life like but in the end my style and abilities dictate that all my paintings have a sense of cartoon about them, I actually don't mind this. This is a painting I started doing of my old cat Manga, I tend to start paintings and get half way and then can leave them anything up to a couple of years! If they are commissioned then of course they are finished quite fast.

Fibres

Un-finished acrylic on flat canvas
Not got round to finishing this however I do like it as it is, there is something chaotic but serene about it

All-bran

Acrylic on flat canvas
This is actually a half of one painting, the two parts together make it some how seem obscene but I like this bit on it's own. I have a love for anatomy and body tissues, I was always fascinated by the worlds that were there when magnified... I still am.

Con-fused

Pen on cartridge paper. I did this quite a long time ago but always liked it... found it again recently. This was in the days before photo shop when you just needed to be good at attention to detail.. not bad for free-hand.

Starting the painting at the right frequency....

I've been drawing since I can remember.
I basically use this as an online storage for myself to see progress of work, to store work etc. I decided recently maybe it's time to blog and share what I do. I do commissions, most of my work on here is for sale so feel free to comment or ask anything about it.
